ABC Wednesday---M Is For MEL...Of Course!

ABC Wednesday is hosted by Mrs. Nesbitt's Place.

Nope...no pictures...Mel detests having her picture taken...as you will soon find out. If you just look right...and down a bit...that's a fairly recent picture. The red is a few shades lighter now than in that picture...it was an experiment...which by the way I don't like...I like my crayola...siren...bright...RED! It is pretty...it is soft...it is natural looking...but Mel? Nope! ; )

I've answered to a lot of "M" names in my lifetime. I told someone recently that I have several databases in my head, each one containing the names of people who have called me by a certain name. When somebody comes up to me and says, "Hey M____! Remember me?" I know what period of my life they are from by the M name they use.

Melissa---relatives, people I went to elementary school with, former teachers

Missy---people I went to junior high/high school with, kids I babysat for

Miss---several relatives, one close friend, one friend from high school

Mimi---my baby sister

Mrs. H.---kids I taught in school, parents of kids I taught in school

Mel---anybody "new" to my life since the late 90's

Mama---my girls!

Mama Bear---that would be Lisa!

My database works pretty well...unless the person doesn't call me by name...like this certain person did a few years ago at Don Pablo's. He just came over to the table and started talking to me...and asked me if I knew who he was. I was sweating bullets there for a minute or so until I recognized his eyes...never you mind I hadn't seen him in about 20 years...and he had been about 16 the last time I saw him. He's a good one for this post too...he goes by a lot of M names as well...but he's always going to be Mikey to me.

The following meme was burning up Facebook earlier this year. I finally bowed to the pressure and conformed...as much as I'm able to conform. There is probably more here about Mel than you will EVER want or need to know. I, of course, changed the title to:

25 Bloody Things

1. All right...all right...ALL RIGHT! A couple of weeks ago Jennifer's status read something like, "Jennifer doesn't want to write 25 things about herself." I asked her if she'd like me to do it for her...she said yes but please lie since she doesn't lead a very interesting life...which is a huge lie by the way. Then someone else suggested that they would do it but only after they had been tagged 12 times. Since I, apparently, at this point in my life am incapable of an independent thought, adopted that policy as well. AND since Sherri asked, and I haven't seen her or talked to her in probably 15 years...and I've always done pretty much whatever she asked...remind me for the next one going around to set the bar around oh...6327 tags.

2. Last night I'm pretty sure I heard voices coming out of the drain in our garage. I don't think I'll be spending any time in the garage after dark for awhile...I don't really want to run into a giant clown with fangs that looks like Tim Curry.

3. I am loyal to a fault.

4. I LOVE writing with a pencil...I love the sound it makes scratching along the paper...I love the smell when they are brand new...I love that you can ERASE any mistakes.

5. I am a compulsive list writer. I make lists of everything...with pencil of course. I especially like checking things OFF my list.

6. My heart continues to break over the ongoing "changes" at Colonial Williamsburg.

7. My sleep number is 55.

8. I am fiercely protective of the very few individuals I hold dear...fiercely.

9. I like to stalk in my spare time.

10. You know those warnings...on cleaning products...that always say you should test on an inconspicuous area first? I don't.

11. For the most part, I find memes to be highly overrated.

12. The same goes for mimes too.

13. Yesterday Hope said something about going to school. Her two year old sister, who has come to be known as "Yeah! Me Too!" said of course, "Yeah! Me too!" The conversation was as follows:

M: You go to school?

C: Yeah.

M: Really?

C: Yeah!

M: What's the name of your school? (I said this figuring she would give me the name of Hope's school as she's SO often done before.)

C: Pee-Pee Poop High School

M: Pee-Pee Poop High School?

C: Yeah!

M: No kidding! That's where MAMA went TOO! To yoouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Alma Mater.......

14. I have an almost pathological need to remove clutter from my life...which is a never ending deal with two kids under six in the house.

15. I have a little statue of Spidey and Doc Oc on my desk...I chose it only because they didn't have one of Spidey and Green Goblin.

16. I miss being able to see without my glasses.

17. I am addicted to scrabulous...or wordscraper...or lexulous...whatever they are calling it this week.

18. One of the bridesmaids in my wedding dropped out after rehearsal when she found out she was paired with a black groomsman.

19. I love donuts...I've never met one I didn't like...if they are in the house I will eat them until they are gone. I have eaten donuts that are stale enough to pound nails...and I'm guessing that was someplace that I was babysitting because, hey, they don't last that long around here. And for those of you who subscribe to the "feed the warrior not the coward" philosophy? My warrior loves donuts too.

20. I am a master of multi-tasking. If you are speaking to me...and I'm maintaining eye contact with you, nodding my head, and making appropriate comments? I haven't heard a word you said. Now, if I'm putting a load of laundry in the dryer, playing 3 games of lexulous, working on a blog entry, changing a diaper, and making a grocery list? I'd be able to repeat what you said verbatim.

21. I should've been a computer nerd...albeit a hot, hip, and smartass one as I recently told someone...but a nerd nevertheless. Computer forensics was tailor made for me...especially if I could be left alone somewhere to do it.

22. I despise having my picture taken.

23. I am the master of procrastination. It all works out eventually because I'll end up doing something I've put off just to avoid doing something else that needs to be done.

24. I'm going to change my name to Qui-Gon Jinn.

25. I rarely follow meme rules...it's my one and only means of deluding myself into believing I have any control over my world. If you'd like to participate, please do...if not...bravo for you! (Wait until you've been tagged at LEAST 30 times!)
